“Are you ever going to stop being mad at me?” Wylder met Logan outside the classroom holding Saturday detention. It was better than working with the janitor at the hockey arena or shoveling horse crap in the stables—two favorite detention punishments at this school.

But still, four hours of sitting in complete silence? That so wasn’t Wylder’s idea of fun.

Logan stopped before entering the room and crossed his arms. “I’m only here because of you.”

“You know… I’ve thought about that over the last four days of not being able to work with my ConMus partner because he’s a jerk. You could have said no to me.”

“What?”

“At the lake. I didn’t force you in. I didn’t strip the clothes off you.” Her cheeks heated at that. “And little old me certainly didn’t force you to join in. So, you being here is not my fault, and I won’t take the blame for your own inability to resist me.”

She didn’t give him a chance to respond as she turned on her heel and marched into the classroom. The only other students there were Sarah Jeffries and Adam Carrick. Rumor said they’d been caught canoodling in the janitor’s closet near the English hall. Canoodling definitely wasn’t her word, but she’d heard the gossip from Diego who’d been smacked in the face by the door when they came out.

And Diego used weird words.

Wylder gave Sarah a nod as she walked by her, the nod of reprehensible troublemakers who’d finally been caught by the popo. Well, fake popo in Wylder’s case and a teacher in Sarah’s.

Wylder waited for Logan to choose a seat and slid behind the desk next to him. He wasn’t getting away so easily. Leaning in, she dropped her voice. “You see that nod? It was basically the equivalent of a prison handshake. I’m pretty cool like that.”

The guy didn’t even crack a smile. Tough audience.

“Logan. Psst, come on. Talk to me. I’m not happy about being here with only you either, but these lips need to yap, and I feel weird if I just keep talking with no response. Logan.” She poked him. “Logan. Logan Logan Logan.”

His hand whipped out, and he grabbed her finger. “I don’t have an inability to resist you.”

A smile curved her lips. “You going to let me go or keep my finger as a souvenir like some weird serial killer?”

The door slamming made her look to the front of the room where the teacher who’d drawn the short straw on his Saturday stepped in front of them.

Sebastian.

His eyes settled on Logan, and she realized he was still holding her finger. Pulling it free, she leaned back in her seat. Four hours of avoiding one Cook brother’s gaze while the other one stewed beside her?

She’d rather go clean the stables.

Or scrub the hockey team’s locker room with a toothbrush. Was that an option?

Sebastian cleared his throat. “Morning. You’re all here because you broke school policies.”

Sarah and Adam shared a salacious grin. Gross. Yeah, it was definitely more than canoodling that landed them here.
